Foodival is Transition Town Tooting's annual food festival, celebrating everything that's good about locally grown food. Foodival aims to show how it's possible to grow local, eat local, be sustainable and have fun while doing it!

Top Tooting Cook Competition 2019

What is it?
The competition is a fun way of engaging local cooks to take part in this annual sustainable food festival to showcase the wonderful dishes that can be cooked up using locally grown produce. The competition takes place at Tooting Foodival which highlights the diversity of produce that can be grown, cooked and enjoyed in the locality. By growing and buying locally grown food, we can help reduce the air miles of transporting goods and can create a more sustainable society.

Who can enter?
Anyone can take part who wants to have a go at cooking up a vegetarian or a sweet dish using locally grown produce.

Where can I get locally grown produce?
We can supply it, or you can use your own, locally grown, fruit and veg to cook up a dish. Collect your free produce from 220 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7EY between 6-8pm on Friday 13th September.

When to drop off your dish
Bring your prepared dish to the same location on Saturday 14th September between 1.30-2.15pm with your entry form. The judging will start at 2.30pm. The dishes will be judged on presentation, taste and how locally grown/ sourced the produce used are. You can use ‘pantry’ items e.g. flour, spices, sugar, but the more you use that is locally grown, the higher your mark will be!

We will have 3 categories this year
Savoury, Sweet and Under 16 age group

What’s in it for you?
You get the chance to win some wonderful prizes as well as the coveted title of Top Tooting Cook for 2019. It’s also a fun way to meet other local foodies to taste and share recipes, whilst celebrating all things local.
